Jenn spent most of her childhood in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in English, minoring in Philosophy) from the University of Victoria where she was actively involved in the local Aikido Club. Her love of the martial art and desire to teach led her to Japan where she taught English to high school students with the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme which is sponsored by the Japanese government. She quickly fell in love with Japan and was able to earn her black belt in Aikido. Her next move was to Tokyo where she got married and started a family while continuing to teach English as well as work as the assistant to her traditional Japanese cooking Sensei. She moved back to Canada in 2022 (Edmonton), then moved again to Calgary in September, 2023. Jenn’s elder daughter is attending SFU in Vancouver and her younger daughter is at Saint Michaels University School in Victoria, B.C. She is in the process of completing her AMI certification in Elementary education from Montessori North West.
