Amy Wood

Primary Guide, Music and French Language Instruction
Amy is thrilled to be teaching at the Calgary Montessori School. Amy discovered the Montessori philosophy after teaching elementary music with the Calgary Board of Education and at the Calgary Arts Academy. She holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Ottawa, a degree in Classical Music Performance from the University of Victoria as well as an International Montessori Teaching diploma from the North American Montessori Centre. Amy is also a private voice and piano instructor and finds her teaching philosophy is continually informed and renewed by the variety of educational environments she has experienced. Amy consistently pursues professional development and has attended programs at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity and the Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall in New York. As a musician, Amy Wood has performed as a soloist with orchestras, sung in operas and played her original voice and piano songs for audiences across Canada. She has recorded four albums of original songs.
